Before we talk about business strategies in great detail, we need to know, what is business strategy? A business strategy defines a strategy for business, and it aims of implementing the strategy.

It’s not only a list of steps to be taken, but it’s also a roadmap to help you get to where you desire to be. It’s a document which defines what needs to be done in a specific period of time. And to be more specific, it’s how a company plans for success.

Business strategy is like the backbone of your business. It’s the backbone of your company, and a good business strategy can give you a competitive edge by helping you get ahead in the market.

Business strategy is defined as the integrated assessment of business, market, financial and organizational/social/technological variables in the determination of growth and development. It is used to define what the company does and how it can be expected to grow for the next 50 years. Business strategy involves all major operations of a company as well as major decisions on how future business is planned and managed.

The first question for any successful company is: ‘Will our company survive for years, or only a few years?’ The second one is: ‘Will the company will be able to maintain its profit margins for years, or the opposite will happen?’ The third question is: ‘Will the company be able to maintain its business activities, or will it be forced to stop?’

Every company’s business strategy must start with these three basic questions, which are usually considered the most important questions in a business strategy. The questions, however, can be answered differently according to the type of the company. The reason is the fact that a company’s business strategy is never a ‘static’ issue, but depends on a lot of external and internal factors. Therefore we should always remember two crucial questions:

Will the company’s strategy make it survive at all?
Will the company’s business strategy will give us the chance for prosperity?
