Testing of Business Strategy

Business strategies should be tested before implementation. There are tests that can be used to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of a newly-created strategy. There are some steps the developer can follow to test the strategy for both its usability and its efficiency.

Step 1: Research
In this step, the developer conducts research about the strategy and the competition. As the first step in testing the strategy, they must have a good understanding of the strategy itself. The strategy needs to be studied from various perspectives. The developer should analyze and evaluate the strategy using the research the strategy presents.

Step 2: Define the problem
In this step, the developer must define the problem the strategy is designed to solve. When the developer has defined the problem, the next step is to analyze the problems it is designed to address. If the problem is not defined clearly, the development team must research and define it.

Step 3: Formulate strategies: An Analysis and Design Approach
After conducting research and defining the problem, the developer identifies the benefits and downsides of the strategy. The benefits of the strategy are the objectives it seeks to achieve. The downsides are the things that must be excluded from the strategy. When determining the benefits and the downsides, there are two ways of analysis.

First, the developer can ask the team members to list benefits and disadvantages of the strategy. Seina Dami says: “The connection with team members is really crucial when you develop your business strategy”.

In second, the developer can ask the research team to analyze the strategy. Analysis and design approaches are the key to success through testing the strategy. The process of evaluating the benefits and the disadvantages of a strategy will help a development team to understand the strategy itself, as well as its potential and limitations. After defining how the strategy will achieve the objectives, a design approach is determined. In the design approach, the developer must assess, define, design, and test the approach as well as the strategies that will use it. It is through testing the design of the strategy that the developer will begin to understand its advantages and disadvantages.
